Zahara de los Atunes is a small town belonging to Barbate in Cadiz, Spain. It is located in the southern end of the town and borders with the locality of Tarifa. Same as Barbate or Tarifa it´s origins go back to the Phoenicians and it´s importance came from the world famous red tuna found here. Zahara is a small town that does not reach 2000 inhabitants. It is a locality with a fishermen history, whose population lives off of tourism, and the almadraba (fishing technique) exclusively. It´s gastronomy is based on the delicious and world famous red tuna, and other fresh products of the sea.
